BROWN GHOST. This male brown ghost knifefish has an electric organ in his tail. Its collection of nerves fires rapidly and surrounds him with a weak electric field. Receptors scattered across his body, especially around his head, monitor the field and use distortions in the field to navigate and pick up information about other electric fish.
