E. coli defend against antibiotics with a little help from their friends

When it comes to fighting antibiotics, E. coli bacteria have each other’s backs.

ONE FOR ALL A whole population of E. coli bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics thanks to just a few mutants that produce and share a protective molecule.
