Even a newborn canyon is big in Texas

Flood carved surprisingly large gorge that may help understand features on Earth and Mars

An unexpectedly large canyon carved by a Texas flood may help scientists estimate the size of ancient megafloods believed to have sculpted terrain on both Earth and Mars, new research suggests.

SCOUR POWER The 2002 Texas flood sculpted streamlined mounds (background) similar to streamlined, flat-topped features seen in many presumably flood-ravaged terrains, including some on Mars.
