NANTES, France — Vesta might be a planetary runt, but it holds bragging rights to one of the solar system’s highest peaks.
The asteroid Vesta’s south pole is marked by a giant mountain and enormous impact basin. Also visible in this image, where color corresponds to elevation, are tectonic features such as grooves, scarps and slumps.
